Mosquito Control  Printer Friendly
How to Avoid Dengue Fever this Summer

Aedes aegypti is the disease carrying mosquito that spreads Dengue Fever. Aedes aegypti is a domestic mosquito that primarily breeds in containers, which hold water, in and around the house and yard.

Council's Dengue Response Team undertake an annual program of property inspections in an effort to eliminate mosquito breeding. Our team educate householders, remove and treat containers that can harbour mosquito larvae and, in the event of a suspected outbreak, undertake interior spraying to kill adult mosquitos.

It is important to remember that the dengue mosquito does not breed in rivers, swamps, open drains, creeks or mangroves.

Council does not undertake fogging of mosquitos.
