The Flagstaff Hill Communications Tower is located on Island Point Road, Port Douglas. The tower is 40 metres high and is used for transmission of television, AM and FM radio, Two Way and Optus and Vodafone signals. Users take responsibility for the erection and maintenance of their equipment and a hut is onsite for the housing of electronic equipment used in conjunction with any devices on the tower. The tower also holds the Light House for Port Douglas.

The site is under 24 hour alarm and video surveillance. Access to the site or the installation of any equipment in the hut or on the tower is not permitted without the permission of Douglas Shire Council.
