Yellow and Red Arrow walking tracks

Project update and alerts

All works are now complete and both Tracks are open for use.

A new 2.34 kilometre walking track will be created on Mount Whitfield, providing a connection from Aeroglen to the existing Red and Blue Arrow walking trails. The new Yellow Arrow trail will also provide a circuit route via the Red Arrow, Collins Avenue and Saltwater Creek back to Aeroglen.

A new track head at Aeroglen will include parking for 54 cars. This will create an alternative starting point for users of Mount Whitfield and will alleviate the pressure on access and parking in Collins Avenue at peak use times. The new trail head will also service the dog off-leash area.

A new toilet block and picnic shelter are also included.

The existing Red Arrow fitness circuit attracts more than 300,000 users a year – or around 831 people a day. It will be upgraded with new steps and bitumen as required to improve safety and usability.

This $1.45 million project is being delivered under the Queensland Government's Works for Queensland (W4Q) program, which has provided $15.5 million to Cairns Regional Council to fast-track job-creating community and infrastructure renewal works.
