Your Bill Explained

At Water & Waste we endeavour to make things as simple as possible. This guide is designed to assist you to find out more about your water bill. (An example bill is used for this guide)

Things to Look For on your Water Bill

Summary of Charges

The water usage charges is based on the amount of water you use. This means that the less water you use, the less you pay.

 

Bill Mid Section

This section of your bill displays your property's water meter number, the meter readings recorded in your current billing period and in your previous billing period. The sum of these readings indicate the total water usage at your property.

Average Daily Consumption

Average daily water consumption is calculated as total water usage divided by the number of days in the meter reading period.

Shared Meter Usage

This applies to Strata Title Units only.

The percentage is for each resident's portion of the total consumption based on the Body Corporate and Community Management Act 1997.

Current Water Usage

This section tells you how much you owe on your current bill.

It shows the current usage in kilolitres and the tariff applied to equal the usage charge.

Balance Carried Forward

This is the amount owed from your last bill after any payments were made.

In most cases it is the amount outstanding at the time the current notice is issued.

Total Amount Due

This is the amount due for your water usage.

This is the total amount as of the Date of Issue of the bill. It may also include unpaid amounts from previous bills.Payment Section - Front Page

On the back of your bill, you will find many different payment options.

The Bar Code

This is a notice identifier that is scanned when you make a payment at a Post Office.

Office Hours

The opening hours of Council administration centres are shown in this section.

Let us know if you have changed your name or postal address.

To change your details enter them in the boxes provided and forward it to us. Alternatively, you can use the change of postal address form. If you have more than one mailing address to change, please fill out a form for each assessment that needs to be changed.

Interest

This section explains how interest is charged if your bill is not paid by the due date shown on the front of your bill.

Compound interest, at the rate determined by Water & Waste, is due on all charges that remain unpaid thirty (30) days after expiration of the due date for payment. This includes payments for arrears of interest.

Receipt

If a receipt is required please sign inside the box provided and return the bill, intact, with your payment. A receipt will be issued and returned along with your original bill notice.
