Important Notice
Water & Waste apologises that due to increasing workplace health & safety parameters, current staffing capabilities and the requirement for Blue cards, tours of some of our facilities may not be convenient or possible. Please be understanding of these limitations.
But we can now offer the services and assisitance of an Education Officer who is able to come to your school or offer on site support at the MRF Recycling Plant (see below).
There are a range of links to external sites which may offer a range of tools and resources to use as an alternative.
Waste Services Tours
Water & Waste can offer onsite Education visits to our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Portsmith. This brief tour gives teachers and students a visual introduction as to where our waste and recyclables go and what happens to them after they leave our homes and businesses.
Allow 30 min's for this visit, held in the comfort and safety of the air-conditioned viewing-room, which can best accommodate a maximum of 25 students.
Tours can also be linked to a visit to the Portsmith Transfer Station and BuyBack Shop, a short drive from the Materials Recovery Facility, as a drive through option - given WH&S of the sites.
