Sister Cities Management Committee

In 2010 we will be structuring our committee as per our adopted Sister Cities Management Policy membership as follows:

• Mayor (or nominee) and two (2) Councillors (one of which is nominated Chair - Mayor's Nominee Krystyn James, Cr Blake (Chair), Cr Forsyth
• General Manager Community, Sport & Cultural Services (or nominee)  -  Ian Lowth Manager Corporate Communications (or nominee)  - To be advised 
• A maximum of one representative from nominated community groups to foster and maintain existing sister city relationships
  • Latvia (Riga) - Andrew Krumins and proxy Alex Garsa (Hon Consul for Latvia)
  • Japan (Oyama and Minami) - Jeff Haynes, President, Australia Japan Society Cairns and proxy Makoto Haynes
  • PNG (Lae) - Olive Davis, Cairns & Region Multicultural Assoc & Migrant Settlement Services  (no nominated proxy) 
  • China (Zhanjiang) - Chan Lai Chu, Cairns & District Chinese Association (no nominated proxy) 
  • Canada (Sidney) - no current representative
  • USA (Scottsdale) - no current representative  
• A maximum of one representative of a nominated community group to advance and/or represent a proposed or existing friendship city relationship
  • Catania (Sicily) - Frank Lanza, Hon Italian Consul Cairns
• A maximum of two nominated individuals with the ability to enhance the sister cities program
  • Sim Hayward, Qld China Council
  • Lone White, Visual Arts Delegate
