Fun free activities for all at Cairns Esplanade during Lagoon temporary closure
Cairns Regional Council wishes to advise of the temporary closure of the Esplanade Lagoon for scheduled maintenance from 19 May 2008 for up to six weeks.
The 4000 square metre saltwater lagoon will be drained to enable essential repair works on the pool surface to be carried out.
A host of other fun, free activities are on offer on the Esplanade during the closure period, so why not:
* bring the kids to Muddy’s playground
* try out the world class skatepark and beach volleyball court
* take a stroll along the stunning waterfront boardwalk
* have a BBQ or picnic in the parklands
* enjoy live entertainment across the precinct
Foreshore Fridays light up the Esplanade every Friday night 7pm-9pm. It's never been easier to entertain the whole family, with acts ranging from drumming workshops, Bree and the Bopstars Karoke, and Mark’s Aussie Animal show.
On Saturdays from 8am to 5pm, the Cairns Esplanade comes alive with market day. Browse the quality local stalls, soak up the market vibe and enjoy live bands 11am-2pm and 3pm-6pm.
The Esplanade's popular Fun Free Fitness program will continue during the lagoon closure period, with 12 free activities every week (excluding aqua aerobics). Get fit, have fun and do it for free!
