International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated across the world on 8th March each year. The purpose of the day is to recognise women and their achievements regardless of nationality, ethnicity or cultural, political or economic background.
This International Women's Day, Cairns Regional Council will be celebrating the triumphs of countless everyday heroines and awe-inspiring women who are creatively and courageously making progress in all aspects of social, political and economic life, all around the world - and in our own region.

Nominations closed on Friday 22 February 2013 and at the International Women's Day Breakfast held on Saturday 2 March, the following winners were announced:
