Cairns Alert emergency message service
During an emergency the Cairns Disaster Group can send critical emergency information to your mobile phone via text message through the Cairns Alert messaging service.
You might also receive emails in the lead-up to the disaster season with advice on being prepared.
Cairns Alert is an opt-in service. You can register below, and update your details at any time by logging into your account.

You will receive an email containing the details of your registration. You can log on any time at the Cairns Alert Portal and check what details you have registered
If you are having trouble registering for Cairns Alert, try these options. If you continue to have problems you can email council@cairns.qld.gov.au including your name, address and contact numbers and we will investigate the isssue.
Email address already being used
An email address can only be registered once. Check with others who use that email address if they have already registered.
Enter numeric characters (phone number)
When entering a phone numbers don’t use state brackets ‘(0x)’, the international ‘+’ code or spaces.
Enter an interstate number like this 0395801234 and your mobile number like this 61401111222 or 0401111222.
Please enter letters only (name)
There are two common reasons for this error message.
- For hyphenated names – leave out the hyphen
- For names containing an apostrophe – leave out the apostrophe
Use the forgotten password link on the Cairns Alert Portal page to reset your password. Your new password will be sent to your registered email address.
It is important to keep your contact details up to date. Simply log in to your account and update your details, through the Cairns Alert Portal.
If your email address changes you will need to register a new account.
You can register everyone in your home if you like. However, each person will need a unique email address.
You can unsubscribe to Cairns Alert by:
Texting (SMS) 'stop' to 0428 522 674. You will be sent a link; tap the 'opt-out' button and you will be removed from all alerts.
Emailing us at council@cairns.qld.gov.au with 'Opt-out from Cairns Alert' in the subject line. Be sure to send us your full name and the email address or phone number you used to sign up.
