Edmonton Town Centre
Planning is well underway for the Edmonton Town Centre. The centre will be master planned and will embrace the regions character while promoting tropical design. Overseeing the planning is a Working Group which includes community representation and a Technical Advisory Group consisting of officers from Cairns City Council, State Agencies and consultants for the landowner. The group meets regularly to progress the detailed planning and proposed amendments to the CairnsPlan. The Edmonton Town Centre will be much more than just a shopping centre and will include shops, offices, restaurants, dining and entertainment opportunities and will be designed to integrate land uses with transport networks, with a strong focus on public transport opportunities.
Enquiry by Design
Two Enquiry by Design processes have been held for the Edmonton Town Centre. For more information on the Enquiry by Design processes and to view the outcome reports click on the links below.

Location of the Edmonton Town Centre
Council has determined the preferred location of the Edmonton Town Centre to be on the western side of the highway in the area generally known as Mann’s farm. The decision was made at the Planning and Environment Committee Meeting held on the 16th November 2006. A detailed planning assessment report has been prepared which contains an analysis of what is a town centre and what the requirements are for the Edmonton Town Centre.
