Services Provided
The Environmental Protection Unit is responsible for protecting the environment within the statutory boundaries delegated by the State Government. The Environmental Protection Unit regulates and enforces specific provisions of legislation pertaining to protection of the environment from environmental harm.
This State Environmental Legislation includes:
Currently the EPU divides its operations between regulating specific industrial activites, namely Environmental Relevant Activities and attending to Environmental Nuisance , Noise Pollution and Water Contamination complaints.
The EPU is also responsible for licensing premises which store Flammable and Combustible Liquids in accordance with the Dangerous Good Safety Management Act 2001.
