Where to Park in the City
A variety of parking is available in Cairns, from on street metered parking to off street privately operated facilities.
On street parking is continually updated to reflect growing needs. Currently on-street parking is $1.00 per hour. Free eight (8) hour parking is generally available within a short walk of the city centre.
Metered parking for larger vehicles such as mobile motor homes and minibuses is available in Wharf Street between Lake and Sheridan Streets at a cost of $0.25 per hour. This area is conveniently located close the Grafton Street Post Office, and a short walk to Woolworths or the Reef Fleet Terminal.

Off Street Parking Facilities
In addition to the various privately owned carparks, Council's carparks include the Grafton Street North Carpark (formerly named the Old Library Carpark), the Lake Street Parking Station, the Southern Esplanade Carpark, adjacent to the Shangri-La Hotel complex at the Pier Marketplace, and the Hartley St Carpark.
Coloured brochures showing the various carparks, both privately owned and Councils are available from all tourist operators and information centres, or from Council's Spence St office.
Casual parking rates are 70 cents per hour at the Grafton Street North Carpark and $1.00 per hour at the Lake Street Parking Station. The Southern Esplanade Carpark is 80 cents per hour, and the Hartley St Carpark is $2.00 per day.
Reserved parking is available at both the Grafton Street North Carpark and the Lake Street Parking Station, although spaces are limited. Enquiries for reserved bays may be made through Regulated Parking Administration on 4044 3033 or by submitting an Application direct to Council.
