Infrastructure Charges Incentive Program

On 11 July 2012, Council resolved to establish an Infrastructure Charges Incentive Program (the Program). The Program was a short term initiative to assist the development and construction industry in the region.

The Program aimed to assist development within the City Centre, for business, commercial, retail or industrial activities, or development that has a ‘Special Community Benefit’ by enabling these developments to reduce infrastructure charges, potentially permitting development to proceed with up to a 100% reduction in charges payable.

Access to the Program was assessed in accordance with Council’s General Policy: Infrastructure Charges Incentive Program, with appropriate supporting information being required. The Policy can be found in the related documents area

The application period for access to the Program ran from 16 July 2012 to 24 August 2012. At the Council meeting held on 26 September 2012, Council resolved to offer the discount to 22 applicants which equated to a financial incentive of approximately $10.5 million.
