New residents invited to ask questions
Residents who are new to the area are invited to a community information session in Port Douglas this week.
“You don’t know what you don’t know” is the theme for a series of free community information sessions being offered by Cairns Regional Council.
Providing information on everything from disaster preparation to Council services and facilities to public health, the sessions are an opportunity to ask questions, face-to-face, on a range of topics
“The information sessions are particularly aimed that those who are new to the Cairns region and would like information relevant to the area,” Mayor Bob Manning said.
“If you are new to the area, facing your first cyclone season might seem a bit daunting. If you have any questions about how to prepare for the wet season or what to expect, this is the ideal opportunity to ask.
“We are also coming into the time of year when dengue and marine stingers are at their highest risk, so you might want more information on how to avoid these tropical dangers.”
A community information session will be held at the Port Douglas Neighbourhood Centre on Mowbray Road this Friday, September 28, from 2pm to 4pm. No appointment necessary – simply drop in.
“Just remember, there is no such thing as a silly question,” Cr Manning said.
Further community information sessions will be held at Woree and Edmonton during the next two months.
