Draft Cairns Region Planning Scheme

Council is preparing for the future with a new draft Planning Scheme that will respond to growth and development across the Cairns region over the next 20 years.

The draft Cairns Region Planning Scheme will shape how the region grows and ensure the right development occurs in the right places. It aims to achieve a balance between continued growth and maintaining the qualities and characteristics that make our region special.

Consultation period 27 October - 10 December 2014

Council is conducting a period of statutory consultation on the draft Cairns Region Planning Scheme from Monday 27 October 2014 to Wednesday 10 December 2014.  You are invited to view and comment on the draft during this period.

Council staff will be holding information booths at key local shopping centres during the consultation period, to make it easy for you to find out more about the draft planning scheme and ask any questions you may have.

  • Gordonvale Markets – Saturday 1 November from 7.30am to 12pm
  • Smithfield Shopping Centre – Sunday 2 November from 9am to 4pm
  • Cairns Central Shopping Centre – Saturday 8 November from 9am to 5:30pm
  • Holloways Beach Markets – Sunday 9 November from 8am to 1pm
  • Earlville Shopping Centre – Saturday 22 November from 9am to 5pm
  • Mt Sheridan Shopping Centre – Sunday 23 November from 9am to 3pm
  • Redlynch Shopping Centre – Sunday 23 November from 9am to 12pm
