  • Dredging for ferry, Daintree River

  • Abbott St streetscape improvement
    Cairns Regional Council will be removing and replacing median trees along Abbott Street (between Aplin and Shields sts) from 26 March 2012. 
  • qconnect bus stop construction
    Construction of a new bus stop on the Captain Cook Highway opposite the Cairns Tropical Zoo (inbound) is scheduled for April 2012. 
  • Bloomfield River Crossing reconstruction works
    Cairns Regional Council wishes to advise that works to reconstruct the Bloomfield River crossing on Cape Tribulation Bloomfield Road are due to start mid-May 2011. 
  • Cairns City Centre Masterplan
    The City Centre Master plan will be an important tool for Council to drive positive development outcomes throughout the Cairns CBD. 
  • Cascades Bridge refurbishment works
    Cairns Regional Council would like to advise residents that refurbishment works will start on the Cascades Bridge on Redlynch Intake Road (between Zanzoo Close and Cascades Drive) on Monday 16 May 2011. 
  • Douglas Heritage Study
    Council officers will be visiting properties throughout the former Douglas Shire as part of a heritage study for the area. 
  • Construction Phase
    Cairns Regional Council is pleased to advise that the Cairns CBD to Aeroglen Cycleway officially opened on 26 June 2011. 
  • Dedicated Cycleway
    Cairns Regional Council is pleased to advise that construction of the Cairns CBD to Aeroglen Cycleway is underway. 
  • Woodward Street - road closure
    Woodward Street temporary road closure/roadworks. Cairns Regional Council would like to advise that drainage improvement works are programmed to start on Woodward Street (between Jensen St and Nolan St) from 14 June 2011. 
  • Gordonvale Cemetery - Removal & Replacement of Trees
    Two large African Oil palm trees in the Gordonvale Cemetery could pose a potential safety risk to the public and to infrastructure, and Council Council proposes to remove the trees. 
  • Relocation - bus stops
    Following community consultation carried out earlier this year, Cairns Regional Council will now be extending the one-way traffic reconfiguration along the Esplanade from Florence Street to Upward Street. 
  • Annual Asphalt Overlay Program - Nightworks
    Asphalt overlay works are programmed for CBD streets during September 2011. 
  • Community Plan: Stage 3 Validation
    The final consultation period to validate the draft "Imagine Tomorrow: Your Community Plan" runs until 29 September 2011.
