Inclusive Community Champion Award for All Abilities Playgrounds
Cairns Regional Council has won a Spinal Injuries Association's Inclusive Community Champion Award for the successful delivery of the All Abilities Playground projects at Sugarworld, Edmonton and George Davis Park (Bubu Kinkari), Mossman.
The playgrounds are designed to be used by children of various abilities and were delivered by Council in partnership with the Department of Communities as part of the State Government’s All Abilities Playground Project.
Winning the Best Government Department or Agency Category for 2011, the Inclusive Community Champions (ICC) Awards are a celebration and recognition of local people and businesses who offer a service that fosters an inclusive community.
Spinal Injuries Association members vote for nominations for six award categories including best sporting facility, best local business/community service provider, best government department or agency, best recretation/leisure/entertainment venue or precinct, best tourism or accommodation provider, and best individual.
