We turned on the 🌞 for AFL's ticket sales launch this morning for the match between Western Bulldogs and Gold Coast Suns on July 22. Mayor Bob Manning and Gary Young from AFL Cairns joined Sam Day from the GC and Doggie Roarke Smith at the picture perfect Cairns Lagoon for the launch. Mayor Bob Manning this morning announced that a city loop bus service to reduce demand on parking would be investigated. A reminder that our offices will be closed for the Easter long weekend. An after hours call centre will be operating for urgent matters on 4044 3044. All kerbside waste and recycling collections are as normal and the waste transfer stations are open every day. Only the Buy Back Shop will be closed across the weekend. Have a wonderful Easter!

Roadworks update: • Lake Placid Road, Caravonica - road widening now under way 9am to 3pm weekdays. Completion expected late-April, weather permitting. • Rabaul St, Trinity Beach - road improvement works now under way until mid-May. Expect delays, temporary detours and property access disruptions. Driveway access to the Coastwatcher shopping centre is accessible via Trinity Beach Rd, however driveway access via Rabaul St will be temporarily closed at times. • Upward St, Parramatta Park - asphalt overlay works between McLeod St and Martyn St roundabout from Wednesday 19 April to Friday 21 April, weather permitting. Works will be staged to minimise disruption. Temporary road closures and detours will be in place. Thanks for your patience and cooperation while we work to improve our local roads.

If the rain last week put a dampener on your backyard clean-up and you weren't able to make use of the free green waste drop-off, we've got some good news! We'll have a bonus four-day drop-off after Easter to make sure no one misses out. You'll be able to drop off your domestic green waste at our waste transfer stations on 21-24 April. As a result, the free mulch giveaway has been pushed back to 19-22 May.
